The roar was early this year as Main Street Station kicked off,
the unofficial start to Biketoberfest with the Battle of the Babes Event. The event headlined 18 Bands fronted by woman to raise funds helping to fight the battle against Breast Cancer. #savethetatas
This year the event raised well over $3,000.00 and was headlined by great acts like Miss Intent a rock solid cover band that tours all over Volusia County.
Phaedra Lee the owner of Main Street Station now celebrating it’s 10th year, has done it again a huge success!!!

Local talent abounds on Main Street.
From the Roof on the Pier, to Sunsetters on the River on any given weekend evening you can catch live acts performing Rock a Billy, Jazz, Blues, Metal, Hip Hop and more.
With the approach of Biketoberfest the question looms about itinerant vendors. what is wrong with that? The city keeps calling it “ReDevelpment” what we see is Main Street developing into something special.

  • The vote on Victory Tatoo’s fight for a rezoning of the property.
  • Bruce Rossmeyer Harley not going anywhere
  • The openings of Chrome Cigars now the largest Cigar Shop on Main Street owned by George Merced
  • The pending opening of leather and clothing store One Sexy Biker Chick.
  • The Lucky Rooster is set to change hands and we expect something spectacular.
  • Sunsetters Riverfront Bar and Grill owned by Gerri and Brandon Shoaf have celebrated one Year no small accomplishment.

These are the signs of a growing small business resurgence.
As far as itinerant vendors go we ask what is a food truck? Maybe the City ought to rethink things and look at itinerant vendors as potential small business owners and try to recruit them.
Maybe a vendor with incredible wares like Bikers Den would rent and stay open year round.
As I walked up and down Main St. the last vestiges of the stagnation that was seems to be crumbling and from those ashes so rises the new Economy Behind Daytona.
