The Twisted Chopstick is owned and operated by its Executive Chef, Jeoffrey Curtis. Jeoffrey has been cooking for more than a decade, having learned the basics of Japanese cooking from his first mentor and mother, Julita Curtis. He acquired insightful training at a renowned Orlando-area restaurant, all the while studying techniques, styles, and everything else he could about the art.
After a successful operation at the DeLand Indie and Farmer’s Markets, Jeoffrey opened The Twisted Chopstick in a small location on the near-corner of Howry Avenue and South Woodland Boulevard in 2017. Just shy of one year later, the business outgrew its humble beginnings and relocated to the historic 1925 DeLand Hotel. Jeoffrey’s second restaurant, Buddha Bowls, now occupies the original Howry Avenue location. As for The Twisted Chopstick, the restaurant now resides at its current address within a beautiful historic building just south of Downtown DeLand proper. With a wholly self-occupied location, The Twisted Chopstick has been afforded the opportunity to expand its culinary influence within DeLand and all of West Volusia.
Jeoffrey’s dedication and passion for all things sushi is translated wonderfully in his creative menu, with his experimental nature continuing to produce excitingly enigmatic culinary offerings for his patrons. His masterful blend of skill, lending itself to exceptional execution of fine and fresh ingredients, elevates his cuisine to far more than a traditional Japanese restaurant.
